Food in South Korea: Winter = Strawberry Sandwiches ๐Ÿ’—

This is my first blog post writing about food in South Korea! ๐ŸŽ‰๐ŸŽ‰

THE MUST-EAT FOOD IN SOUTH KOREA DURING WINTER...
๐Ÿ“ STRAWBERRY SANDWICHES ๐Ÿ“
FYI, strawberry sandwiches are seasonal food in South Korea, and they are available in ALMOST EVERY SINGLE CONVENIENCE STORE during WINTER ONLY! Of course, with limited supply ๐Ÿ˜† So make sure to grab one when you visit South Korea during winter~

I have tried strawberry sandwiches sold by 3 main convenience stores so far, and they are all delicious ๐Ÿ’—๐Ÿ’—
Most possibly because I am not picky on food, I literally eat everything as long as it is not rotten. LOL!
Oh ya, by eating these sandwiches, you can also save money from eating very tempting but expensive strawberry cakes in South Korea, just like me!! ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚

1. CU ์”จ์œ  Convenience Store

**2,400 KRW, 135g

By looking at the pinkish cream spread well on the sandwich, I was surprised that it was not too sweet for me. I really love the combination of its cream and the juicy strawberries! ๐Ÿ˜
On the packaging, it states that it contains 33.78%  of strawberries. Not sure how do they define the composition of the strawberry, maybe out of the whole sandwiches? ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚

**Note: Make sure to check out the end of this post to know how to buy it at a cheaper price! Woohoooo

2. GS25 ์ง€์—์Šค25 Convenience Store

2,400 KRW, 149g

IMO, it is slightly sweeter than the ones sold in CU. The only difference between GS25 and CU is the different colours of bread and cream, LOL~ It is delicious too, but I prefer the one sold by CU.
On the packaging, it states that it contains 37.38%  of strawberries. Bigger strawberries? Haha~

Update on 4 Jan 2020:
I read from a blog post that GS25 actually uses YOGHURT instead of cream! OMG! Sounds much more healthy haha~ I will update here once I try them again.

3. 7-11 ์„ธ๋ธ์ผ๋ ˆ๋ธ Convenience Store

2,000 KRW, 160g
Okay, this one probably is the weirdest one, haha! It is a potato egg salad sandwich, with STRAWBERRY JAM spread between both the sandwiches! On the packaging, it even reminds you to eat them in COLD STATE immediately. So ya, NO MICROWAVE, NO HEATING.
Trust me, it is delicious, oddly tasty. ๐Ÿ˜‚ You would never regret trying it out.

Since it is just strawberry jam, I guess MAYBEEEE it is not seasonal and you can have it anytime here?? I will update my blog post here if I can have it during spring/summer next time, haha~

BTW, I did not manage to find the sandwiches with real strawberries at 7-11, probably it is either not sold or sold out.

20% DISCOUNT ๐Ÿ’Ÿ CU Strawberry Sandwiches ๐Ÿ˜ฑ

What's best about buying sandwiches from CU ๐Ÿ‘
If you pay by CU T-Money transportation card, you would get a 20% discount* on the following items:

  1. Burgers
  2. Kimbab (Some call it Korea sushi hmmmm)
  3. Samgak kimbab
  4. Lunch box
  5. Sandwiches (OF COURSE INCLUDING THE STRAWBERRY SANDWICHES!)
Hence you would only need to pay 1,920 KRW for the strawberry sandwiches, TOTALLY WORTH IT! ๐Ÿ˜

*Note: This event varies from time to time, sometimes it is only applicable to certain items, so please check before buying.

Bought this card at 2,500 KRW (cheapest one)
If you happen to visit South Korea during winter recently, and would like to collect some cute T-Money transportation cards, make sure to buy one from CU Convenience Store! They have other nice collections priced from 2,500 to 4,000 KRW.

Not to forget BTS fans out there! CU has earlier released T-Money cards with BTS members' photos printed on them. Not sure if they are still in stock, try to find one when you are in South Korea recently!

p/s: Again, this is not a paid blog post, it is based on my personal experience.
